Not certain what happened to the other reviewer, but I'd recommend he call the manufacturer as other reviews for their items suggested they were incredibly accommodating if there was a predicament (portion of the reason I took a opportunity on this even though there were no reviews in the time). Anyway...I bought this as a microwave stand for my kitchen. We have to have additional storage below our microwave and I hate having just a big open region like most microwave stands have, so this fit the bill nicely. Cake mixes and baking-type items fit on one shelf of the storage region on the left with all the door, and 3 full bags of chips fit on the bottom (with nonetheless a bit of room left more than for a huge canister of oatmeal along with other odds and ends). On the open shelves, I have one basket with food in it, and on the bottom is room to store all of my cookbooks (2 rows, one behind the other). The drawer doesn't have any rollers, but it still a good size for potholders, chip clips, along with other odds and ends. I bought the stand to use for a microwave. It's perfect for that purpose, sturdy enough to hold the weight, yet small enough to fit in tight spots. Agree with the previous review. Very nice product with excellent and easy-to-follow instructions for assembly. Took me about an hour. Yes, the towel holder is too narrow to actually hold a roll of paper towels, so some adjustments will have to be made. Also, one door is a little higher than the other, but hard to notice. We replaced a cheaply made island that was table height (who does that?). This package arrived on time and with complete instructions. (After we ordered the first unit I saw a negative comment about this same item not having instructions,etc., so we were really apprehensive. For no reason, it turns out. Ours came with complete instructions.

The wood is an oiled finish that we were going to paint but we like the natural look so well, we're not going to paint it black. One caveat though. This unit is rather shallow... this is why we ordered a second unit. I think the finished measurement is 16" deep and we needed at least 30" deep, so two units back to back will work very, very nicely. (Thanks for the free shipping Amazon!) (Review More...)

We checked out a variety of options before purchasing this island and this is by far the best quality for the best price that we came across. A similar product purchased through a custom shop would run 3 to 4k. If you decide to purchase this island be aware that the hardware is taped to the bottom of the unit. I purchased this from yet another store because their price was lower and they had been offering free of charge shipping. It has created my life within the kitchen easier with out a doubt! Who couldn't use a liitle far more counter space? I just had my sons initial birthday party at our residence and set it up as a beverage station. It was the great answer so my guests could pour what they wanted when they wanted and I didn't need to play waitress all day!
